Privacy Policy

Last updated 8 September 2026

EachSwipe is a small, invite-only app. This policy describes what it collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to match what the code actually does.

Who runs it

EachSwipe is operated by Akash Takyar. For any question about this policy or your data, write to hello@eachswipe.com.

What we collect

Your account. When you sign in with Google or Apple, on the app or on this website, we receive your email address, your name, and a profile picture if your provider supplies one. We store your email to identify your account and to tell you when your place on the waitlist opens, and your name so the rest of your group can see who left a note. We never receive your password. Sign-in on this website creates the same account the app would; it does not give the website any ongoing access to your Google account.

What you tell us about yourself. The topics you pick, your age group, your narration language, and what you write about what you want to learn. This is what your plan is built from, and it shapes which videos we make and how they are written.

What you watch. Which videos you played, how far through you got, and when. This orders your feed and lets a video resume where you left it.

What you ask for. The text, link or photograph you send when requesting a video. A photograph of a book cover is used to identify the book and is deleted within seven days.

Your notes. Anything you write on a video, which everyone in your group can read.

Your device token, if you turn on notifications, so we can send them.

We do not collect location, contacts, health data, or advertising identifiers. There is no analytics SDK and no advertising in the app or on this website.

What we do not do

We do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not sell or rent your data. We do not show advertising. We do not build a profile of you for anyone else's benefit.

Google user data

When you sign in with Google we ask only for your basic profile: email address, name and picture. We use it solely to create and identify your account, to show your name to your group, and to contact you about your access. We do not use Google user data for advertising, do not sell it, and do not share it with anyone except the processors listed below, who act on our instructions to run the service.

Who else sees your data

Only what is necessary to run the app:

Each is a processor acting on our instructions. None of them is given your data for their own purposes.

Children

EachSwipe is built for families and can be used by children under the supervision of the parent who invited them. A parent who is an administrator can set which topics and age bands a child sees, and can see that child's history. We collect nothing more from a child than from an adult, and never for advertising. If you believe a child's data has been collected without a parent's involvement, write to us and we will delete it.

How long we keep it

Your account and its history stay until you delete your account. Cover photographs are removed within seven days. Notes stay until you or an administrator delete them. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis. A waitlist entry that is never approved is removed after twelve months.

Your choices

Delete your account. In the app: Settings, then Delete account, at the bottom. Or follow the steps at eachswipe.com/delete-account. This removes your profile, your interests, your watch history and your requests. Notes you left for the group are removed with it.

Turn off notifications in the app's Settings or in your phone's settings.

Ask us anything. Write to the address above for a copy of your data, a correction, or a deletion, and we will act within thirty days. If you are in the UK or the EU you have these rights under the UK GDPR and the GDPR, and may complain to your data protection authority.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit. Sign-in tokens are held in your phone's secure keychain. Video links expire. Access to the production database is limited to the operator.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will say so in the app before the change takes effect, and update the date at the top of this page.
